Cultural Tour of Albania
DAY 1 - Arrival
Meet at Tirana International Airport and depart for Tirane. Drive through the center of the city and check-in at the hotel
DAY 2 - Exploration of Elbasan and Lower Selce
Coach to Elbasan. Walk around Elbasan and visit Ethnographic Museum, Elbasan’s old city walls, paleochristian basilica, King’s mosque, and Via Egnatia. Coach to Selce e Poshtme and visit the site. Continue to Korçe and check-in at the hotel for a two-night stay.
DAY 3 - Korce, Boboshtice and the tumulus of Kamenice
Walk to Korçe’s archaeological museum and Mediaeval Art Museum. Coach to Boboshtice. Visit churches in Boboshtice (St John, St.Demetrius). Coach to Kamenice and visit of the tumulus and the museum of Kamenice. Coach back to the hotel in Korçe.
DAY 4 - Gjirokaster
Coach to Gjirokaster via Gramos Mountains. A brief stop at Memorial to the Victims of the Wehrmacht Massacre of Borove. Arrive at Gjirokaster and check-in at the hotel.
DAY 5 - Exploration of Gjirokaster, Blue Eye spring, Mesopotam and Butrint
Visit the castle of Gjirokaster. Depart by coach to Sarande with stops at Syri I Kalter (‘Blue Eye’ karstic spring) and Mesopotam’s Mediaeval Church. Visit of Butrint (basilica, theatre, Sanctuary of Asclepius, baptistery, Anglo Albanian Excavations, Venetian Fortress, and the museum). Coach to Sarande and check-in at the hotel. Walking tour to the walls and the ancient synagogue.
DAY 6 - Ali Pasha's Fortress, Llogara National Park and Kanine
Coach to Vlore. Quick coffee stop at Borsh. Visit the castle of Ali Pasha in Porto Palermo. Lunch in the restaurant at Llogara Pass. Visit the castle of Kanine. Stop in center of Vlore and visit of Muradyie mosque and Independence Monument. Coach continues to Fier and check-in at the hotel.
DAY 7 - The ancient cities of Byllis and Apollonia
Coach to Byllis. Visit of Byllis ancient city and the theater. Coach to Apollonia and visit the site and monastery (museum). Coach back to Fier. Overnight at Fier.
DAY 8 - The holy churches of Berat
Coach to Berat. Visit of the citadel, Onufri’s Museum, Saint Vlacherna, Saint Todri, and Holy Trinity churches. Visit on foot to King’s Mosque, Han, tekke, Bachelor’s Mosque and the ethnographic museum. Overnight at Berat.
DAY 9 - Durres and Tirane
Coach to Durres. Walking tour of Durres and visit the amphitheater and the archaeological museum. Coach to Tirane. Visit Museum. Walking tour of Tirane. Overnight at Tirane.
DAY 10 - Departure
Depart for Tirana International Airport.
